We welcome Mrs. Rhonda Caronna as our new cafeteria manager. Mrs. Caronna is joined by her staff, Mrs. Barbara Lemmon, Mrs. Debra Everett, and Mrs. Angie Kinchen. The ladies are excited to provide nutritious meals and friendly service to our students, faculty and parents.

Our cafeteria operates as part of the The Diocese of Baton Rouge Child Nutrition Program. The program is committed to providing an environment in which students can make healthy food choices that support success and lifelong health. Research has found a clear connection between good nutrition and student achievement; schools that have implemented healthy food programs report fewer behavior problems.

Peanuts and peanut butter are not purchased formeals produced by the Baton Rouge Diocese Child Nutrition Program. However, some products served may contain nuts, may be produced in plants that use nuts, and may contain traces of nuts.

PAYMENT OPTIONS:
Parents are encouraged to prepay for their child’s meals so that money for meals will always be available. Regardless of how you choose to pay for your child’s meals, you may check your child’s cafeteria account activity any time by going to www.schoolpaymentsolutions.com after you have set up an account online.

Pre-Payment Options:

•Online
– Parents have the opportunity to make payments online via www.schoolpaymentsolutions.com for their child’s meals. You can pay with a credit/debit card. The online service allows parents to add money directly into their child’s meal account; money is usually posted within 30 minutes. Parents can monitor the account, view account activity, and set up low-balance alerts. Even if you decide not to make a payment online, you can still take advantage of the other features listed above at no charge. Sign up today! Quick Guide for Setting Up Your Online Payment Account 

•Cash– If you send cash with your child, please place it in a sealed envelope. Be sure to write your child’s name, grade, and POS number on the envelope. Cash is posted into your child’s account the day it is received. The cafeteria staff cannot issue change. If change is due back, it will be applied to your child’s meal account. 

•Personal Checks– If you send a check with your child, please place it in a sealed envelope. Be sure to write your child’s name, grade, and POS number on the envelope. Checks are posted to your child’s account on the day it is received.
Checks used to pay for school meals must meet the following criteria:
•Only use a check that is pre-printed with your name and mailing address.
•Write your home and work phone numbers on the top left-hand corner of the check.
•Write your child’s full name and POS number in the memo area. {NOTE: If payment is for more than one student, please list all the information for each student, including the amount for each student.} Click here to see a sample check.
•Write the check amount clearly. 

Negative Balance:

•Parents are encouraged to prepay for their child’s meals. Students will be allowed to charge up to $10. However, all negative balances should be paid immediately. Extra Sales purchases will not be allowed if your child has a negative balance.
•Parents who receive notices for overdrawn cafeteria accounts are asked to supply the cafeteria with the funds in the amount to cover the overdrawn balance plus a prepayment to cover at least the next month of meals.
•Elem & Middle Schools: If your child’s account has reached the charge limit, he/she will be provided an alternate meal for lunch. No alternate meal will be provided for breakfast.
•High School & Adults: Charging is not permitted and no alternate meals will be provided.
Special Notes:

•Please remind your child not to share their Point-of-Service (POS) number with friends or other students.
•A copy of your child’s account activity is available by checking the account online at www.schoolpaymentsolutions.com. You do not need to make online payments to view your child’s account.
How much should I deposit?

The amounts shown on this chart are an approximation ONLY and varies by school. Please contact your child’s school for their school year calendar.

Food Allergies

To better serve our students with special diet needs, all dietary orders will need to be renewed EACH SCHOOL YEAR. Dietary requests will be valid only for the school year in which they are written and will expire at the end of the school year. Current dietary requests will expire on the last day of school of this current school year.

If you have not submitted a form for this school year, please submit a form to your Café Manager and school nurse on a current Louisiana Special dietary order form. As with new dietary requests, signature from a physician or other recognized medical authority is required. 

FOOD ALLERGY FORM

Free/Reduced Meals

Any student who attends a Diocesan school that is a part of the Child Nutrition Program (CNP) may participate in the breakfast and lunch programs at his/her school. Students who do not qualify for Free or Reduced price meals may purchase meals. If you are not eligible now and your income decreases, you lose your job, your family size increases or you become eligible for SNAP, FITAP, or FDPIR benefits, you may submit a meal application at that time. You may apply for benefits any time during the school year.

All students are given the opportunity to apply for free or reduced price meals. Applications may be completed online at www.applyforlunch.com or paper applications are available at each cafeteria. A new meal application must be submitted each year, unless you are notified that your child has been approved for free meals as a direct certified student. Only one application is needed per household.

To see if your child/children qualify for Free or Reduced price meals, please refer to the Income Eligibility Guidelines Chart for the 2013-14 SY.

If you feel your child/children qualify for Free or Reduced price meals, please complete and submit an application.

This includes:

•All new students coming into the Diocesan school district. {NOTE: Students transferring from another school district (EBR or any other public or private school district) must complete & submit a new meal application; his/her previous eligibility is not transferrable. }
•All students transferring from a Diocesan school that does not participate in the CNP program.
•Prior-Year Free/Reduced students {Prior-year status expires 30 operating days after the 1st day of school}.

Extra Sales Program

If your child participates daily or brings a bag lunch, he/she may purchase individual servings (Extra Sales) instead of, or in addition to, the meal offered as part of the National School Lunch Program; as long as your child has money in his/her meal account.

All students can purchase the following Extra Sales items: an extra entrée, extra salad, extra vegetables, extra fruit, extra roll, extra milk, Ice cream, cookies, fruit juice, bottled water, etc.

Additional information regarding the Extra Sales program:

•Students cannot charge Extra Sale items.
•Additional money will need to be deposited into your child’s account (this includes students that were approved for free or reduced meals).
•Students will be allowed to purchase Extra Sale items unless the parent submits the EXTRA SALE NON-PARTICIPATION FORM stating that they do not want their child/children to purchase Extra Sales. This form must be submitted to the café manager at your child’s school by the 2nd week of August.

REFUND OF MEAL ACCOUNT MONIES

Request for Refund of Meal Account Money

Starting in the 2013-14 SY, student’s meal account money will be automatically carried over to the next school year EXCEPT for those students that will be completing the 12th grade or not returning to the Diocese of Baton Rouge School District.

Refund requests will be accepted during the current school year for the following reasons only:

1) The student is no longer enrolled at a Diocesan school.

2) The student's meal status has changed.

If any of the above apply to your child(ren), please contact the cafeteria manager (Mrs. Rhonda Caronna at 985-386-8075 or josephcafe@diobr.org) at your child's school to get a 'Refund Request' form.

Complete the Request for Refund of Meal Money form and turn it in to your child’s cafeteria manager. Please allow 30 days for your request to be processed. Refunds will be made by check only. No credit/debit cards will be credited. Convenience fees charged for making online payments and NSF fees are non-refundable
